5 Tips on Styling Your Senior Photo Shoot
Choosing what to wear for your senior photos can be a little overwhelming… Do you wear something timeless? Something trendy? Something dressy? casual? What would photograph the best?
Don’t worry, I’m here to help! Here are my 5 EASY TIPS to picking your perfect outfit for your senior photo session.
1. Stay true to your style
Don’t stray too far from your normal style and wear what you’re comfortable in. If you wouldn’t wear it on a normal day, don’t wear it for your senior photos! More casual? Think jeans, shorts, sundresses, and jackets. More dressy? Think suits, suit coats, frilly dresses, and maybe even your prom dress!
2. Layers are awesome!
Layers are a great way to add some interest to your outfit. Add some pops of color with contrasting under shirts and camis. Or use a jacket to tone down the super busy pattern on your favorite shirt.
3. Make sure you can move!
We do a variety of poses during your session, so make sure you can move around in your outfit. Try sitting down, moving your arms, and leaning forward – if you can’t move around fairly easily and comfortably, choose a different outfit.
4. Don’t forget the accessories!
Accessories not only take your outfit to the next level but can also be fun to play with! Think earrings, necklaces, sunglasses, hats, ties, belts, bags, scarves, and (of course) SHOES!
5. Ask your photographer for help
I always encourage my seniors to send me photos of their outfits and I can give them my 2 cents. I can help you figure out what to pair together and suggest accessory ideas for the perfect outfit. Your photographer will know what will photograph the best! Lean on their expertise.
