Delany & Joe's Wedding Day

Well it’s time to get this new blog a-movin’! So let’s get it started off right by sharing Delany & Joe’s Denver wedding with you.

I was so excited when Delany contacted me about her wedding. We are actually from the same hometown in Iowa but both had no idea either of us lived out here in Colorado! So when she did a google search for a wedding photographer and I showed up, she knew she had to hire me. Especially since they were going to get married out here in Colorado, but were going to do a reception back home in Iowa. I could cover both events!

Even though the weather on their big day was a bit on the dreary side, they never let it dampen their spirits. There were a lot of smiles and laughter, and a lot of loving moments that brought tears to eyes. Two of my favorite moments in the day were the “first looks” – one with the bridesmaids and one with the groom.

Delany knew that she wanted a dress that was “out of the ordinary” so she chose a beautiful, blush pink Vera Wang gown. She kept her dress a secret, only a very few select people knew what it looked like, and she even had the bridal store put two bags on it so her bridesmaids wouldn’t see the color. Once she got dressed, she invited all the bridesmaids in to see her for the first time. It was such a great moment with a lot of tears.

The other favorite moment – the first look with the groom, Joe. We chose to do the first look at Red Rocks – at a beautiful more secluded spot that would give the couple the mountain backdrop they were looking for but some privacy to enjoy their moment. Of course, Mother Nature doesn’t always cooperate, and on the way to the spot it started to rain a little bit, but that didn’t stop them. I swear the moment they saw each other it was like the rain and everything around them just faded away.

I just love how even though the day’s weather was a little less than desirable, the couple chose to embrace it and not let it change the tone of the day. And as they say, rain on your wedding day brings you lots of good luck for the future!
