Rain on your wedding day brings you good luck

They say that rain on your wedding day brings you good luck and fortune. If that’s the case Sarah and Dustin’s life together is off to a great start! The morning of their wedding, gray rain clouds lurked in the sky. And while we all hoped it was just going to be a cloudy Iowa spring day and allow us to do outdoor photos, Mother Nature had different plans. Not long after we got Sarah into her beautiful gown and Dustin in his suit, the skies opened up and started down pouring. Luckily for us, the couple had planned on exchanging vows in her childhood church so we were somewhere out of the rain. Granted, this meant we couldn’t go outdoors for photos, but the church’s sanctuary provided us a beautiful backdrop with its warm tones, rich woodwork and colorful stained glass windows. The majority of my Colorado weddings are done outdoors, so this was a really fun change of pace for me. I loved incorporating the architecture of the space into lovely images of the couple and their wedding party.

No matter how much planning goes into your wedding day – all the details, expectations and organization – the one thing you can’t control is the weather. And I love it when a couple can roll with whatever Mother Nature hands out like Dustin and Sarah did.
