Twin Cities Senior Portrait Photography | Alex’s Senior Model Session

I am getting super excited for senior season to get into full swing. These past couple of weeks that I have photographed my senior models, has really gotten me in the groove again. I’m constantly online searching for new backgrounds and props the seniors would love, honing my photographic skill and experimenting with new lighting in studio, and designing some killer grad cards for this year’s graduating seniors. The creativity is really flowing! So I was super excited when Alex came in for her senior modeling session. I had photographed Alex before (last year we did a modeling session to create new head shots to submit to local agencies) and so I knew she was very relaxed behind the camera and I would be able to play around. My makeup artist, Jody from Makeup Savvy here in Stillwater, created three different looks and Alex just KILLED the session. I couldn’t believe the fantastic shots we got! Twin Cities Senior Portrait Photography | Shelby’s Senior Model Session

Last year I got to photograph the fabulous Shelby while doing some promo shots for Karma Clothing Co., a local consignment shop specializing in name brand clothing. I had such a blast with her that I knew I’d HAVE to have her as a Senior Model this year, when she’s going to be a senior. So you can imagine my excitement when she applied to be a Senior Model and came in for her model session. Jody, my makeup artists extraordinaire, and I worked with the fantastic outfits that Shelby brought, tried out some different backgrounds, and created some fantastic looks for her model cards. These are just a few of my favorites…she really rocked the session and it was hard for me to pick just a couple photos to share…but here they are! (More on my facebook page if you want to see them).

Twin Cities Senior Photography | Ashley’s Senior Model Session

Well it’s about that time of year again – SENIOR SEASON! I can’t tell you how excited I am to get back in the studio, meet these fantastic seniors and create some amazing portraits that they can’t wait to show their friends. This year, in order to help spread the word about my studio, I’m finding soon-to-be high school seniors to be Senior Models and help get my name into the schools. So without further ado…here is Ashley! She’s going to be a senior at Woodbury High School next year and we met through her mom Lori who is a wedding planner (her company is called Veiled Events – you should really check her out if you’re in need of an awesome wedding planner!) Anyways, back to Ashley, she came into the studio last week for her model session. One of the perks to being a Senior Model is not only do you get a free session out of the deal but you get your makeup professionally done by the great Jody Olson of Makeup Savvy here in Stillwater. We played around with a couple different looks, tried out some new lighting and backgrounds and had a blast! This was a great kick off to my super fun senior season. Can’t wait for it to get into full swing!

Iowa Portrait Photography | Amanda & Josh’s Engagement Session

Spring is officially here – the grass is turning green, the flowers are coming out of the ground, and the weather is getting warmer allowing us photographers to get out of the studio and back to the fun, on location sessions. The past couple of weeks I’ve had a lot of inquiries for engagement sessions and I’m loving it! I’m finally getting back in the groove of photographing people after spending the past three months doing more commercial work. I love spring!

This year is the first year that I’m officially doing weddings on my own for the studio and so far have three on the books. One of them is my cousin, Amanda’s, wedding back in Clarion, Iowa. Their date is set for the end of June so it’s definitely time for their engagement session When I was home over Easter, we set aside some time to do their photos around Clarion. We hit up some of the local “landmarks” like the Gazebo and went out to Lake Cornelia. I also found this amazing rusted stair case in one of Clarion’s alley ways. It was quite an adventure, I must say, as I braved walking into some prickly weeds with only flip flops on….ah what one must do for great photography! I had a blast photographing these two and can’t wait to photograph their big day! Now on to designing a fantastic guest book to go along with their custom designed announcements. Twin Cities Portrait Photography | Lynn & Brandon’s Engagement Session

Two weeks ago (WHERE is the time going?!) I met Lynn & Brandon at The Guthrie Theater in downtown Minneapolis for a fun engagement session. They are getting ready for their upcoming wedding, Vegas style, in May so I was glad the Minnesota weather turned nice so we could do some photos outdoors as well. We first started in the Guthrie, exploring the different levels. Pretty sure my favorite spot was the level with the yellow windows overlooking downtown. Since Lynn works for DSW we had to do some fun shots with her new, killer heals! Then we headed outside and captured a few images just as the clouds rolled in. Love the ones in front of the old mill! Twin Cities Commercial Photography | The Little Parrot Art Sanctuary

A lot of people have the misconception that downtown Stillwater is just a bunch of antique stores and there’s nothing interesting off the beaten path. Those people are SO wrong! If you take the time to explore downtown you’ll find a lot of specialty stores as well as art galleries. And if you wander off Main Street you’ll find some fantastic stores as well. One of the newest art galleries is just up Chestnut Street East and is located in a fantastic little place known as the Compass Center for Healing (used to be the Stillwater Music store). I was introduced to Thea, the owner of The Little Parrot Art Sanctuary, when I attended a Chamber ribbon cutting at the Compass Center a couple months ago. Since the Compass Center is newer, they were in need of some photography to showcase on their website – that’s where I come in

This gallery is unlike any others that I have been in, with it’s brightly colored walls, eclectic mix of pieces and the soothing soundtrack that is played in the background. Just a couple minutes into the session and I was completely relaxed! I wandered around the gallery, photographing the space and the pieces, being inspired by all the bright colors. I highly recommend that everyone stop into The Little Parrot Art Sanctuary the next time you’re in town and check out all the fabulous things Thea has for sale!

Twin Cities Senior Portrait Photography | Class of 2011 Models Wanted!

It’s almost the end of the school year, which means we’re gearing up for the new class of seniors! Kristina Lynn Photography & Design is currently taking applications for our Senior Models program. What are senior models, you ask? They are fabulous seniors who become rock stars by being featured in our advertising and represent the studio in their schools while getting some cool perks in return, such as a FREE modeling session and discounted summer session. We’re looking for anyone and everyone – jocks, cheerleaders, band members, chess players, YOU NAME IT! Iowa Newborn Portrait Photography | Introducing Quincy Jane!

A couple posts back, you might remember a beautiful maternity session that I did with my little sister, Kathleen. Well, now I’m proud to blog about the newest member of our family, my niece Quincy Jane, who came into this world last Tuesday afternoon. As soon as I could clear my schedule, I packed up my studio and road tripped down to Iowa to meet and photograph the little peanut. I transformed their living room into a make-shift studio and then in between visitors, diaper changes, feedings and wardrobe changes we played most of the afternoon away, capturing everything from smiles to yawns and stretches…oh and the occasional baby meltdown (wouldn’t be a newborn session without it!). Pretty sure I wore the little one out – you’re welcome Mom! These are just a few of my favorite images and I can’t WAIT until the 3 and 6 month sessions! Congratulations Kathleen & Jerad!
