Twin Cities Portrait Photography | My puppy, Bella
February 15, 2010I have the greatest puppy in the world. Her name is Bella and she’s a 2.5 year old Yorkie/Bichon. What makes her the greatest puppy in the world? Well, she’s got a HUGE personality, she’s always by my side (currently she’s under my desk with all her toys, waiting for me to play with her) and she lets me photograph her
A couple months back I had gotten a new background and wanted to try it out so I packed up Bella and hauled her to the studio for a little mini session. She was perfect! I put her where I wanted her and she stayed put for the whole session! When I was looking through the images at the end of the session, I loved how I was able to capture all of her emotions as well as a few hysterical blinks. Yep, pretty sure I’ve got the best puppy in the world!

Owning a photography studio means you get to meet a variety of people and do a variety of sessions. No two days are ever the same. It’s fun to go from season to season – photographing high school seniors in the summer then switching gears to family sessions in the fall and then doing more commercial session in the winter. Seems like ever since the new year started people and businesses have started thinking about updating websites and business cards with new photos. This session was just a LITTLE bit different.
Matthew and I met back in college at Morningside College in Sioux City, Iowa. Being art majors (my focus was in photography and advertising while he did more graphic and fine arts) our paths crossed once or twice in various classes. When Matthew decided to expand his art career and start approaching galleries here in the Cities in hopes of displaying his Andy Warhol-esque pieces in their shows he knew he would need some professional photography done. So to help kick off his self promotion, he packed up some of his favorite pieces and brought them up to my studio to get some photos of him and the artwork. He also found a company that will help him sell replications of his artwork online so he was in need of high resolution files of each of the pieces to submit. So we started out at my studio photographing each painting and then we headed just down the street to a great empty space I had found here in Stillwater to finish up the session. We had decided that since the artwork was very clean and contrasty on its own, we wanted a space that had clean white walls to really make the artwork stand out and be a focus in each of the images. This space worked perfect!
These are just a few of my favorite images from the session, more are posted on my Facebook page. If you’d like to see more of Matthew’s paintings and graphic design work, check out his website. And definitely make sure you contact him if you want to purchase any of his amazing artwork!
Happy New Year from Kristina Lynn Photography & Design
January 5, 2010Well it’s officially here….the year of 2010. Not quite sure how 2009 managed to slip by so fast, but it did! Seems like just yesterday I was filling out the paper work and getting ready to start my business – and now here we are, almost a year later. I want to thank all my wonderful clients and blog followers for making my first year in business a success. I am truly looking forward to the upcoming year and what it all has in store for the studio. I’m currently working on updating the website with new images and information (and maybe even a new look…we shall see!), working on new, unique products to offer my clients, and also taking time to learn new techniques to improve my photography. If you’d like to keep in touch and up-to-date on the new things at Kristina Lynn Photography & Design, sign up for our newsletter and subscribe to our blog.
Hope you had a wonderful holiday season with your family. And I hope to see you in the studio soon!
Twin Cities Family Portrait Photography | The Higgins Family
November 28, 2009Jennifer is the sister of one of my senior clients this past summer. She decided my Limited Edition Holiday Session offer was the perfect excuse to come in for a family photo with her two little ones. The biggest challenge of the session was getting little two year old Riley to sit still long enough to get a photo with older sister Savannah. As soon as we figured out to give her the candy bracelet and con her into “hiding” it from me, I was able to capture lots of smiles. Photographing kids can be so much fun!

The best part of my job, I think, is getting to meet and get to know a variety of people. Tom is a very creative senior who plays guitar and sings in his local band Say Goodnight Graciee. He has a very distinct personality, style and is a natural in front of the camera. So easy to photograph! Since this October has been super crazy weather wise, we split his session and did the indoors part on one day and then the outdoors on a different day (luckily it wasn’t raining then too!). Even though we captured some killer shots indoors, I think my favorite images came from the outdoor session. Not sure if it was because it was an overcast day so we could go ANYWHERE in downtown and have great lighting or if it was because Tom brought along his guitar and played a little during the session. Either way I’m so excited to post some of his images!!! If you’d like to see more, I’m posting some to my Facebook page and then to my website in the next couple days. So check them out! And if you’d like to hear some of Say Goodnight Graciee’s music, check out their Myspace page. They’re pretty awesome and will be playing locally here again soon.

Twin Cities Senior Photography | Sneak Peek from Chelsea’s Senior Session
September 30, 2009Earlier this week I put some of the images from Chelsea’s senior session on my Facebook page, now time for the blog entry. Can’t believe it’s almost been two weeks since Chelsea came in for her session (where is the time going?!) My favorite thing about the session, other than Chelsea’s great personality, was the outfits she brought. Talk about your bright, fun colors! I think my favorite was the teal dress that really popped off the rusty fence we used for a background. I also adore the images of her in the prairie field – perfect candidates for the vintage color treatment! Thanks for coming in Chelsea! Can’t wait to show you the rest of the images.

Twin Cities Model & Fashion Photography | Jason’s Modeling Session
September 22, 2009Jason, a junior in high school, decided this year instead of playing football he wanted to take a different route – possibly join the world of modeling! A very exciting change! So in order to get his foot in the door, he wanted some professional photographs taken that he could submit to various agencies around the Twin Cities. That’s where I come in
So last week, he made the journey from the southern suburbs of the Cities up here to my studio in Stillwater for his modeling session. Knowing that most agencies want to see pretty basic shots with plain backgrounds, we did the majority of the session in the studio. But he had also brought a great outfit that would look killer outside so we ventured out in the hot afternoon sun to grab a couple shots. Here are a few of my favs from the session and make sure to check out the Facebook page for some more!

Twin Cities Senior Photography | Sneak Peek from Danielle’s Senior Session
September 15, 2009Last week I got the chance to photograph royalty! Danielle just recently took the title of Miss Woodbury Princess at the 2009 Woodbury Days. Luckily we were able to get her senior portraits taken before her schedule gets super busy with school and all her royalty duties. We started the session indoors while we let the sun get a little lower in the sky for better lighting. The first outfit was this amazing print dress that was so fun and colorful. The print was pretty bold so we did it on the gray paper background to really make the colors pop and gave it a nice clean feel overall. Then I had JUST gotten this new amazing background that we HAD to play with so luckily the second outfit was a solid colored neutral shirt and jeans. It worked out great! Since Danielle wanted mostly outdoor urban-esque images we didn’t waste any more time in the studio and headed out to downtown Stillwater. We wandered all over from down to the river to the alley ways around the studio, finding new fun places to shoot. I think one of my favorite spots was the red wall that had just enough ivy on it to give it a nice pop of contrasting color. LOVE IT! Thanks Danielle for coming in for your senior session! Can’t wait to show you the rest of them!
