Well it’s officially here….the year of 2010. Not quite sure how 2009 managed to slip by so fast, but it did! Seems like just yesterday I was filling out the paper work and getting ready to start my business – and now here we are, almost a year later. I want to thank all my wonderful clients and blog followers for making my first year in business a success. I am truly looking forward to the upcoming year and what it all has in store for the studio. I’m currently working on updating the website with new images and information (and maybe even a new look…we shall see!), working on new, unique products to offer my clients, and also taking time to learn new techniques to improve my photography. If you’d like to keep in touch and up-to-date on the new things at Kristina Lynn Photography & Design, sign up for our newsletter and subscribe to our blog.

Hope you had a wonderful holiday season with your family. And I hope to see you in the studio soon! :-)

I’ve had the pleasure of getting to know Jennifer through the Greater Stillwater Chamber of Commerce, where she holds the position of Executive Director. After seeing some of the images from my Limited Edition sessions, she decided it would be fun to book a session for her and her boyfriend Ray. So after some gentle persuasion Ray gave in to the idea, under one condition….he could wear his hat in some of the images :-) I’d say that’s some good negotiating, for both parties!Add an Image

The day of the shoot turned out to be a sunny, semi-decent Saturday (which were few and far between this year!). The morning was nice a sunny but then a light layer of clouds rolled in for the early afternoon shoot, creating fantastic lighting. Good timing Mother Nature! We trucked around Axdahl’s Garden Farm, doing some of the standard posed shots and some fun action shots as well. Oh and you can’t forget our rendition of American Gothic that Jennifer and Ray acted out in the barn. What a fun session!

Here are some of my favorite images from this Limited Edition session and stop by my Facebook Page to see some more! Thanks Jennifer and Ray for coming out for the session. And a big thanks to Ray for humoring us and taking his hat off for a few of the images! :-)

Last Saturday afternoon, after completing some much needed tasks at the studio, I ventured out in the cold to experience HarvestFest 2009 in downtown Stillwater. This is an annual event, filled with family fun events (such as the kiddie tractor pull), chili cook-off, beer tasting and the ever popular Pumpking Weigh-off. I’ve NEVER seen pumpkins this huge before! They were all over Lowell Park and some had come great distances to be there. I missed out on most of the activities of the day (darn responsibilities!) but was there for the great pumpkin drop. They hoisted a massive 1300 lb. pumpkin about 5 stories up in the air then dropped it to the ground. I’ve never seen a pumpkin smash like that before! I was quite a ways back, behind the safety fence they had set up, and STILL got nailed with some flying pumpkin goo. It was a pretty cool site to see! Here’s some of the photos from the day. If you’d like to see all of the images (including the ones from the great pumpkin drop!), check out my online proofing.

Despite all the increase in workload, I LOVE senior season! I love meeting the teens, learning all about them, and finding new, fun and exciting places to photograph them. Places that really capture who they are. When I met with Amanda to discuss what she was looking for in her senior photos, she said she didn’t really want to do the urban scene but did want photos outdoors. Since a couple of her other friends had recently come in and wanted nature/outdoor/etc. I wanted to find something different for her. A couple months ago I had photographed a house for Cates Fine Homes here in Stillwater which was located in a newer development in Bayport. I remember there being a bike path through some tall grassy, prairie like area. I knew that would be a good location, especially at the time of day Amanda was coming in, but I also wanted to find some bright colorful flowers. Washington Park provided the perfect blend of colorful flowers that created a fabulous background. I knew while I was photographing Amanda that her images were going to turn out awesome…and I was right!!! Did I mention that I love my job?! :-)
