I am proud to announce the launch of the 2012 Adorable National Children’s Portrait Contest at the studio! This is my second year of doing this contest and I’m so excited start photographing cute kids everywhere! The best part of the contest is that the entry is COMPLETELY FREE with any children’s session between now and May 31st and there are over $7500 in prizes! The contest is open to kids ages newborn to 12 years and have a variety of categories: Newborn-12 mos., 13 mos.-2 yrs., 3-5 yrs., 6-8 yrs., 9-12 yrs., Mommy & Me/Daddy & Me, Ooops, and Buddies. Iowa Portrait Photography | Expecting

I had the pleasure of photographing the beautiful Angela during her pregnancy. She wanted to do some fun, creative shots to document her second pregnancy and she even talked her husband into coming with! They are such a cute couple and make such cute babies – can’t wait to meet the newest addition to their family.

I can hardly believe that I have photographed this little guy for a year now! It all started with his newborn session, and now, here we are, celebrating his one year milestone with a super fun kid’s session complete with a cake smash! It has been such a great year watching this little guy grow up and develop an awesome personality. Pretty sure there hasn’t been one session where he wasn’t smiling and hamming it up for the camera. LOVE it! Can’t wait to photograph his second year

Children’s Portrait Photography | Ava Turns 1

Last year was the first year children’s photography started to be a big part of my business and I’ve loved every minute of it! Ava is my cousin’s daughter and they live in Illinois, around Chicago – so needless to say I do not get to see her that often. But I did have the opportunity to photograph her when she was just 3 months old, and now she’s a year! My how time flies! It worked out perfectly, they came to Iowa for a wedding and so we were able to photograph little Ava’s 1 year session at the same time. When we started the session, she was very shy and didn’t quite know what to think about all the large equipment and the new place she was in. But by the end she was showing off her cheerleading moves and smashing a cake with a big smile on her face.

Children’s Portrait Photography | Easton is welcomed into the world!

I absolutely LOVE photographing newborns. They are so small and snuggly, you can do so many things with them to create wonderful pieces of art your clients will treasure forever. When my best friend from high school, Natalie, told me she was going to have a baby, I just knew I had to do a newborn session with her after the baby was born. Since the best time to photograph a newborn is during the first week after they are born, as soon as I got news that Baby Easton had arrived , we set up a time for me to go to their house to photograph him. He was a little cutie and such a good baby, sleeping for most of the session even though I kept moving him around- a dream come true! He was so far asleep that at the end of the session we decided to try something really artsy with an old antique scale. It worked out perfect – my new favorite newborn image of all time I hope to be able to photograph Easton again sometime.

Children’s Portrait Photography | Max’s 4 month session

I can hardly believe that this little guy is 4 months already! I swear we just did his newborn session yesterday. He’s such a good little guy to photograph – wasn’t fussy, showed me all his smiles and grins, and put up with multiple wardrobe changes. He’s just a happy-go-lucky kid and I am so glad I get to photograph him 2 more times this year! Can’t WAIT to see him again

Paxton came in for a session the other day and I just have to share with you some of the super cute images we captured of him. Now Paxton is a super quiet, kind of shy kid (or at least that’s how he was in the studio – I hear he’s a little more wild than that ) but that didn’t mean we weren’t able to coax a few smiles and mischievous grins out of him! Sometimes it just takes some fruit snacks to get kids to open up

Iowa Children’s Portrait Photography | Quincy Jane turns one!

For those of you who follow my blog and facebook page regularly, you are acquainted with Miss Quincy Jane already. She’s my adorable little niece that just turned one in February. I don’t know where time goes but I swear we just did her newborn session yesterday! I had just purchased some new backgrounds, flooring and tutus so we got to go all out and try out some new looks. Check out that tutu, isn’t it the cutest? Then we ended the session on a messy note with a cake smash but it was sure worth it!

Iowa Children’s Portrait Photography | Miss Ella turns 1

Little Miss Ella is quite the character. She has the biggest personality EVER and you never know what she’s going to do next. When she came in for her 1 year session, she was all full of smiles and giggles. I knew it was going to be a fun day! I had a hard time narrowing down my favorites from Ella’s session. We captured so many different faces and smiles that this little blog post doesn’t do the session justice! Can’t wait to photograph her again
