Awhile back, Cates Fine Homes contacted me to photograph the exterior of a house they were remodeling. They were being published and needed some images right away, but the house wasn’t quite done yet, so we just captured a couple of the outside for the publication. Now the house is complete and ready for the interior to be photographed so in I went! And, as usual, it was a dream to photograph. Jennifer had staged it so nicely and all the high end finishes really made the images pop. I love it how Cates always finds new, unique materials to use such as the aluminum roofing that they used for accent pieces on the island in the kitchen and the desk in the work area of the living space. Very creative! And if you’re in the market to buy a fabulous house – check this one out on the MLS #3824206

When I pulled up outside the next project Cates Fine Homes had for me, my jaw dropped. This house was GORGEOUS! It had been a model home for the company for awhile but now is the home to a fantastic family. Both Jennifer, one of the owners of Cates Fine Homes, and I were blown away by the landscaping – truely impressive with the copper gutters and colorful plants. Even though I was there to photograph the basement, I couldn’t help but snap a couple of the outside! Then on to the inside!

Simply decorated, the basement was just as impressive as the curb appeal. The homeowner had even taken the time to get some staging props together to dress up the kitchenette a little! :-) These are a few of my favorite features of the basement – the family dog even got to have a cameo in the session! Thanks Ranger for being a great model!

I just happened to be going through my blog today, updating and adding some of my most recent sessions when I realized that I had completely missed blogging about one of the best modeling sessions to date! Rebecca, my deepest apologizes! But better late than never right?

About a month ago Rebecca had contacted me to see if there was any way of doing a modeling session down in Iowa. She had stumbled upon my website while doing a search for fashion photographers in Iowa and loved the look of my work as well as the products, like comp cards, that I offer. It just so happened that I was going to be making a trip back home right around the same time so it worked out great! She’s from the southern part of Iowa and my hometown is in the north central region so we decided to meet in Marshalltown to do the session – a nice in between distance for the both of us :-) I’d never been to Marshalltown so I was very excited to go shoot in a new area. Rebecca, her mom and I had a BLAST as we wandered around Marshalltown’s Main Street and I was SO inspired by the grunge alleys and fun buildings that provided fabulous backdrops for the session.  It was hard for me to pick out just a few favorites, out of the hundreds of great frames, for the blog but here they are. Thanks for a fun and inspiring session Rebecca – you’re going to go far in the modeling world!RebeccaModeling012RebeccaModeling035RebeccaModeling201RebeccaModeling124

It’s been months in the making but we finally found a free time in Chris’ busy schedule to get him in for senior photos! Such is the life of the high school athlete :-) But let me tell ya, it was well worth the wait! And being an athlete, we were able to personalize his sessions by getting some great images with a couple jerseys and some other sport props. Here’s a little sneak peak at my favs from the session…more on the Facebook Page so make sure to check it out!ChrisSeniorImage007ChrisSeniorImage031ChrisSeniorImage112ChrisSeniorImage156ChrisSeniorImage160

One of my favorite things about senior photography is finding new, fun places to photograph each senior. Marisa’s session was definitely no exception! She brought lots of awesome outfits that worked out great for the outdoor photos she was looking for. Wandering all over Main Street, we captured some AMAZING photos.
